Reid McCargar
Reid McCargar is a senior chemistry student at PSU. He has been working professionally in audio for six years in a wide variety of environments, and has been a lifelong musician and music student. In 2003-2004 he completed an internship at a grassroots radio station in Northern Colorado, where he worked closely with a broadcast and electrical engineer to mix daily live bands and to maintain the station's audio inventory. From 2004-2006 he regularly mixed for local performers while working as an electronics repair specialist and studying physics at the Colorado School of Mines. Since moving to Portland, he has worked as Portland State Professional Sound's technical coordinator, while working for the stagehand's union and other area production groups. During this time he augmented his audio skills through self-directed study, professional trainings with industry-leading sound companies and the Audio Engineering Society, and many hours of working experience in the industry. Upon finishing school, he hopes to work as a touring audio systems engineer, and to pursue graduate studies in applied physics and electrical engineering. He hopes to equip students with the scientific understanding necessary to record and reinforce music artistically.
